Hypothyroidism and midwife apt **mw apt booked**
Last time I was pg I didn't know I was hypo so didn't get checked in until about 7 weeks which then happened very quickly due to discovering my condition.
Now this time round I am airing on the side of caution, bit unsure of how soon I should be declaring pg to the Dr and get booking in bloods done as I've recently lowered thyroid meds as I was bordering hyperthyroid.
Any idea how soon I need to get checked in?

Hmm im pretty sure they up your meds in pregnancy so you may need a blood test from the doc fairly soon. i would probably speak to doctor once you are a week overdue to see what he suggests. Are you GP controlled or under a consultant, if its hospital managed maybe give the secretary or nurses a ring and find out what they advise.

I would just go and see your GP as soon as and ask for a test given the fact that you're now pregnant. My first pregnant test was at 5 weeks and I got the results at 6 weeks pg after I made a GP appt (I was in the clinical range, but obviously they don't look at whether you're pregnant or not when they get the results, just the numbers). You could maybe ring your GP and ask them to leave a blood form for you and tell them that you're pregnant, rather than take up a full appointment?
You should be looking for your TSH to be around 1 when pg. My meds were only lowered when my TSH dropped to 0.5, I'm currently about 0.76 and everyone is fine with that.

My levels were done on 30/1 got results on 13/2 have smear done as well but I'd tested day before smear and was neg. My tsh came back as 0.8 so my meds have only been lower since 14/2. Got next bloods booked for end April but now kooks like I will need them sooner.

i've called the dr's this morning - they say they need a sample from me first before they will allow a booking in with the midwife.
popping to the surgery at lunch to sort it out.
has anyone else had to provide a sample to their surgery for testing?Part Time Working Mummy praying for another bump!

I've never had to prove I'm pregnant but I know it does depend on the practice; I know people who have had to provide a sample.

i had an appointment with a specialist on tuesday, he told me for future pregnancys as soon as i get a bfp to up my dose by at least 50mg. so i would get your levels checked asap.
i never had to provide a sample :shurg:
