Getting some answers!!!
So I saw another midwife today at a lovely bf cafe (must be about midwife number 5 I've seen and the second bf specialist). Hidden tongue tie it is!!!!! Argh so annoyed at myself for not getting more second opinions. She is referring me to the hospital in London that does the snip but two ladies at the cafe recommended a private consultant that they both saw for tongue tie, one of them for the same hidden tongue tie problem. She can assess and do the snip and help me get my supply back up too..... Think I'll probably go ahead with the private as I'll be waiting ages if I go nhs. But I won't def get the snip done - it will depend on the other problems - she also seems to have a high pallet as well. Joy!! So I will see what she says.... I'm glad I'm getting somewhere though. Feeding is difficult - she'll often feed for an hour and still need a top upvafterwards. Still using shields too....

Posterior tongue tie and high palate often go hand in hand. The high palate should improve with time and should improve considerably if the TT is snipped. Must be such a relief to finally have answers!

sounds very similar to P, although his TT wasn't hidden.
he had the high palette though as well, was so difficult. well done for persevering, I know just how hard it is. My advice would be that if you can get it cut, do it, the difference it made to our BF relationship was instant and incredible. No way would I have been able to continue on for much longer if he hadn't been snipped.

There's very few nerves or blood vessels in that strip of skin. Some babies protest, and seem visibly upset but I've seen babies just look around while it's being done and after. They often recommend putting them straight to the boob to sooth any distress immediately after but it's often a non issue - depends on the individual baby. It literally takes seconds too so if it's an awful experience for her (which is unlikely), it'll be very short lived! My kids reacted worse to vaccines!
