Unusual bleeding between periods
For the last three or four months I've had a day or two of spotting about a week before my period arrives. Didn't think much of it at first but it keeps happening and I've never had any unusual bleeding (other than during pregnancy) before. My last two cycles (don't have records beyond that) have been 35 days and 33 days, so a bit longer than normal. I haven't been on hormonal contraception for at least six months. Is it normal to have bleeding between periods or should I be concerned about it?

When was your last smear? If it was recent and fine then I wouldn't be too concerned but would still be checked out. It could be any number of things or nothing at all, but worth seeing a doctor IMO.

Well, in the absence of any pain or other symptoms and given your age I would say it is highly unlikely to be anything to worry about.
I'd still go, though. They might suggest a smear to rule out anything untoward anyway.
Could be as simple as an infection or even a cyst but the fact that you can pinpoint it and it's not heavy at all would suggest it's probably hormonal.

Mmm my gut feeling is that it isn't anything sinister. I was wondering about hormones, I think mine have been out of whack ever since having Tabitha (might explain the insomnia as well) but I didn't have the spotting before possibly because the birth control pills were masking it. Seems plausible anyway.

I think I'll leave it for another month and pay more attention to my next cycle to see how it goes.

Okay... I'm slightly freaked out now. I'm on day 40 of my cycle which is completely unheard of for me. And no, I'm definitely not pregnant as I've tested several times.

If this length of cycle is abnormal for you I would pay a visit to your gp.
Hugs I know how you feel I've been here before and mine turned out to be a thyroid condition.
