How chubby is too chubby?
Last month, Aisling was 3ft 2.5 inches at 2 years 9 months and about 34lbs. I know she's tall for her age but I'm starting to get comments that she's huge and what are we feeding her etc
She has a really healthy diet, likes bread and butter a bit more than I'd like but apart from that, she doesn't really eat anything unhealthy, no biscuits or chocolate etc mainly just because I don't think to eat them around her during the day and she hasn't had them enough really to ask for them. I never limit the amount she has to eat, she can have as much as she wants and honestly, even if she is a bit big I can't see for the life of me anything I would change. I'm not about to tell a nearly 3 year old that she can't eat when she asks.
I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance really. I know she's still got alot of puppy fat, she's one of those toddlers that lost none of it when she started walking
She doesn't sit around, she's forever wandering around playing so it's not like she's sat in front of the tv all day. She does have about 20 chins but I'm just assuming she'll eventually banish them one day!
Pic (obviously from October!) - excessive puppy fat??

It's not a good photo of her but displays the chins pretty well!!
She hasn't had a skinny month since she was seven months old! It's crazy, at that stage she was below the 9th percentile for weight, now she's up near the 90th! She's up at the 90th for her height too though so as long as she's in proportion, I figured she was fine.

I think she's gorgeous! Mae's pretty podgy tbf - more so than Aisling. I'm just letting her be her own guide, although I have sort of sub-consciously incorporated more exercise into our daily routine. I was the same - very podgy and slimmed out considerably - not until I was about 8 though! I'm going to play it by ear and if she gets any podgier then I'll likely reassess the foods she has access to, but certainly for now, I'm not too concerned - and definitely wouldn't be for Aisling.

I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum - coz how can you be grumpy when the sun shine's out your bum?!

Thanks, I do feel better now. I know she's a chubster but it's not something I've been at all concerned with until someone makes what was probably a throwaway comment, silly really. I mentioned it to the childminder and she got very protective on Aisling's behalf saying she was perfect and anyone saying anything else was ridiculous, even did that thing where you unconsciously hug the person to you while you say it, it was very sweet!

Awwww she's gorgeous! Nothing wrong with chubby cheeks. All kids are different. One of my brothers was a really chubby toddler and has been a rake since about age 4... My other bro was skinny till he was a teen then really filled out. I guess I might be concerned if there was a sudden weight change or if she went way off the charts. But she looks healthy to me!

i would say she looks like a similar build to Ruby. Ruby is 33lb but i don't know how tall she is. i don't think R is that tall as the 'right' age trousers fit her... she wears 3-4 tops though. Ruby does look chunky next to my friends lo the same age but i think this little girl is petite rather than R being big.
A is perfect, and def no too chubby!

If you aren't feeding her crap then there's not much you can do, like you say you don't want to limit what she's eating (and I agree you with you). I think she looks perfect
