Thread: I'm finished with formula adverts on TBJ

I have been away for a few months because I haven't been comfortable with the formula adverts on the site. I decided to return today, only to be met by an advert for 'Joining the cow and gate baby club'.

Until The Bundle Jungle ceases to profit from the formula industry by allowing adverts for formula on their front pages I will no longer be using the forum.

Any members who wants to speak to me can contact me on Facebook.

Simply saying "we can't do anything about the adverts" isn't good enough. The fact is that the google ad box is there through a choice made by the Bundle Jungle team and the box does not need to be there for any reason other than profit. There is no law against a website NOT having a google ads box.

I will not be used as an advertising target by The Bundle Jungle while any portion of their profits are coming from cow and gate, organix and other formula companies.

I can understand why you have made that choice but I think you're mistaken in thinking that Elle and Rambo profit from TBJ. In fact, I'm pretty sure the site is run at a loss simply because it's a lovely community here and it would be sad to lose it. I doubt anybody here *likes* adverts for formula but I for one am happy enough to ignore them if it means that Elle and Rambo don't have to pay for the whole site out of their own pockets.

I never thought the site profitted either? I thought everyone on here just ignores the stupid ads anyway, I know I do, if they enable us to have the site in the first place then I personally am fine with them being there, and being ignored. Just like I wouldn't boycot a TV channel due to formula ads, I just ignore them...

Am I the only one who can't see the ads? I think my brother installed an ad blocker or something....

This site, in the main, runs at a loss. Pretty much nobody clicks the ads.

That said, we are actually taking all google ads off of the site. Partly due to the formula ads and partly because we don't really want it to be that kind of a site. Rambo is just insanely busy with packing, moving house and trying to cram in as many of his hours into work as possible so these things do pass us by and we've tried to take a step back from all of our online projects, in a working capacity, recently as the stress of moving is really taking its toll.

Not excuses, just reasons why this has been overlooked. We've taken measures to try to block them which have proven unsuccessful and so our next step is to delete google ads completely. Rambo is working a 12 hour shift today and tomorrow but I will try to cajole him into it tonight, I wouldn't know where to start!

I really wish you'd messaged me, Laura. Whatever you may be thinking, they don't get much more anti formula companies than me. I just have a lot on my plate right now.

I totally understand that you can't stand them, and I'm glad I've never noticed them as I know that once you see something that annoys you it is literally the only thing that you see when you see the page but I think Claire's point about the TV ads is a good one, I HATE them, but I wouldn't boycott the channel or TV in general because of it.

Hopefully this can be resolved without you having to leave

I've only ever seen one on here. I copied and pasted the URL into that thread we had going about them a while back and that was that. I've not seen one since.

Not trying to upset anyone but I think that leaving the forum based purely on this is a little silly. "Cut off your nose to spite your face" kind of springs to mind considering I know this site is responsible for less formula being used than it would have been without it - it may have only made a difference to a select few, but made a difference it has! And as @Elle has said, a simple pm would have sufficed.

not seen many formula ads. but have played about with the asda cake maker ad!! you know the one you get to choose colour icing and cake topper!! i seriously need to get out more!!!!

I have an ad blocker on my pc, but not on my phone. I'll go click on some ads for you

so you get money for people clicking on the links???? never really thought about it before! but tbh if youmake a profit from it i think thats right the amount of effort you guys put into it. and i for one don't mind the ads. tbh i hardly notice them apart from the cup cake one hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cupcakes!
