Thread: Tell me all you know about TTCing

I am on CD2 and usually AF lasts 4-5 days. So after the bleeding stops and I feel fresh again we are going to start DTD for baby number 2

I have never TTC and tbh I can't logically NTNP when I know I have a 28 day cycle, I have very obvious EWCM and it is usually right in the middle of my cycle so I can't ignore that stuff. So NTNP isn't really what we will be doing. But I won't be using ovulation tests or temps as of yet either so we will be casually TTC I think is the best way to describe it.

My conception history:
With my first pregnancy we were properly NTNP and I didnt have many ovulation signs and wasn't really aware of all that stuff anyway. I went off the pill in late March, not sure at what point in my cycle and then we just sort of put it out of our heads for a while. Then in late december I was 10 days late and finally took a test and got a bfp which would have make me 5-6 weeks pregnant. SO I got pregnant within 8 months of stopping the pill.
Then I miscarried in February.
We used condoms for a few cycles and then in June, for my birthday, we had a few drinks and decided we had mentioned being ready soon so we "decided" not to use a condom. I had a dislocated knee and was on crutches so I know we didn't DTD very often that month so I know that was when we conceived Hunter. On my birthday, first time without a condom! Then, late June on cd 28, which wasn't late for me. I had 30 day cycles at that stage IIRC. I had fallen asleep on the couch and asked OH to bring home a test. I just felt pregnant even though it never crossed my mind I would be pregnant that month at all. So lo and behold I got my BFP.

So as you can see, I have never actively tried for a baby and I have never experienced the dreaded 2ww when trying for a LO either. So this is all a bit new to me.

Should I tell OH to stop/limit his "alone time" (I don't think he does it very often, but some days he takes extra long showers ) Should we DTD every other day? Or more? Or less? Although having said that, if we are DTD as often as I hope for, I doubt he will need to have "alone time" anyway.

So... spam me with all you know about casual TTC'ing. Things like temping and cervical positions etc can come at a later time if I don't get pregnant very soon.

We were the same really, didn't 'try' at all for Leyla and luckily got pregnant the first month of TTC this time so never had to go into all the complicated stuff!

I was using Fertility Friend though - I found it really easy to use and it clearly marked days when I was most likely to be fertile. The plan was to DTD at least every other day during those days and it worked When I signed up, it sent me daily emails for a week or two with a sort of course in TTC. Maybe see if they still do that?

every other day has worked well for most of my friends..... since you have obvious signs of ov, then you can prob be quite specific. i dont think you have too much to worry about! good luck!!!!!!

We pretty much did every other day for this baby I was glad it happened quickly hahahaha

we haven't dtd that often this time round as we temped etc last time and we're trying to keep it less stressful this time round.

my biggie is checking my cervix, i do it every morning 2mu, unless i've been constipated in which case i'll check it again after i've been as this can affect the result.
we dtd when the mood takes us, i don't tell DH that i'm ovulating until after :P otherwise i worry it will affect his performance.
i sometimes raise my hips afterwards to put gravity on my side and try and avoid standing up for at least 5 mins after.

How to get pregnant:

Have sex, lots of sex.

and try not to think about it too much, i mean the more you think about it the more paranoid you will become. we DTD every other day, but it took us 18 months to finally get pregnant...

Relax and keep calm, At the end it felt like a chore for me and mike (well for me - mike was fine with all that sex :rolf: )
