I completely agree! As much as I don't support censorship I do believe that 'advice' books covering parenting or health should be regulated and possibly have health warnings slapped all over them or forced to be cataloged as 'fiction' if they are shown to have no real factual basis other than the mad ideas of these 'experts'!! I also wonder if there could be some sort of regulation for profit coming from sales of these sort of 'advice' books

What saddens me is that people who write this kind of crap end up "popular" and therefore read by the masses on a scale that reasonably intelligent (and I'm counting people on this forum else you wouldn't be here so sorry if this comes across as "snobby"), educated others end up having to fight a backlash of abuse that comes from the "Daily Mail Lovers" kind of readers. All it takes is one little "theory" like this to become popular and where do we end up? Either having "nazis and mafia" labels thrown at those who believe in natural parenting (though there are those who do like to make EVERYTHING into a war, but that's not who I mean) or worse and then other , normally sensible people, following the "Tizzie" ideas with their babies.
I was going to post something about someone I know but I'm a bit wary as they will probably find me on here. Basically, someone I know who IS educated, intelligent etc. has, as far as I can tell, fallen into the controlled crying school of thought and it breaks my heart for her little one, it truly does. The books she read had a lot to do with it and I think unfairly influenced a first-time mum who would otherwise have known better and all I hope is that she doesn't regret her parenting when it comes to baby number 2 or worse, in the next few months. I really think this "expert" needs a kick in the head and a ban on publishing her rubbish blog on the internet.
People "liking" the facebook page - even by way of liking it in order to comment AGAINST what she's writing, still shows popularity and provides income generated by any advertising on the page. The only way to stop it is to not "like" and to ignore it - but then there's not a discussion/disagreement shown on that particular page.
She's so wrong. SO wrong. I still can't believe it's not a joke...

have you been on her website where there is a video of her baby in a vest and sleepsuit, being put in a sleeping bag, some kind of swaddle wrap/straightjacket, then pinned under 4 blankets ? meanwhile nice old tizzie is wearing shorts....

when i asked my HV for sleep advice for my LO she actually told me to leave her to cry and if she vomitted to clean her then leave her, very similar advice as from tizzie hall. I know better than to listen to crap like that but alot of first time mums who lack in confidence and a good support network might well follow that advice and to there detriment. If i knew someone was abusing and neglecting their baby in this way i would report them to SS although i dont think it would really help as unfortunatley CIO (even to the point of vomitting) seems to be widely accepted as the norm : (

That advice is horrific. Deliberately arranging the baby's bedding to make cleaning up vomit easier is disgusting.
My HV also suggested CC to me, when she was less than 6 months old too! She'd done it on her daughter.
I must admit I was coming very close to doing something like CC for a while as I was not coping at work due to long term sleep deprivation. But she finally started sleeping through reliably (knock on wood) at 21 months. I had been telling her when she went to sleep that she was to 'roll over and go back to sleep' if she woke up in the night, which I think I got out of NCSS. She has internalised that message and often repeats it to me when we're saying good night.
