Dilemma about timing for ttc

I've been having the depo injection since my DS was 6 weeks old and as at the time I was slightly traumatised by the whole pregnancy and birth (a lot of stress from in laws made pregnancy really hard) and had decided that one was enough I thought the fact that it took a while for your fertility to return was not an issue. Now, DH has convinced me that baby leopard number 2 is a good idea and would be lovely and I'm regretting my choice of conception.

We have agreed to have this next injection and then try after it wears off, so nine months from now. But I am so broody and really would like to start ttc in the new year when my fertility is likely to have resumed to normal cycles.

When we started talking about it it was 15 months away then 9 months away and now 6 months away. I think I can answer my own question in that which is the best idea?! Lol!

I just wanted to get this down in writing as its been buzzing through my head!

Could you not have the next injection, but still use a different form of contraception for a bit? That might give you more flexibility?

This is a good idea. I was on depo for about 5 years and it took 6 months to get my cycle back and we were very lucky to conceive so quickly (so quickly in fact that we didn't know I was pregnant for 3 months ) but it can take longer. Something that doesn't last as long may be something to consider.

Run out of blinkies! E has been breastfeeding for ^^^ that long!

Thanks! Didn't think about this. I am still breastfeeding DS so not sure what I can have that wears off quickly? Will make an appointment with Dr and see what they say. Mini pill will be the answer i would imagine.

Mini pill is fine for breastfeeding, though I have disagreements with it ethically because of how it works. Condoms work in the short term too!

We will probably just use condoms as I hate putting the chemicals in my body anyway!
